Google Play商店上，數以百計的免費防毒 App 都聲稱能為 Android 手機提供高度全面保護、偵測惡意軟體與阻擋病毒入侵，並且保護用戶儲存於手機的個人私隱資料等等，但一旦開始使用，或許才是洩露私隱的開始。
資訊安全研究公司 VPNpro 早前發佈調查報告稱，指近來在 Google Play 商店中，發現有多假借提供免費防毒名義的 App 會暗裏進行監控、蒐集 Android 裝置的個人資料與私隱數據，如 GPS 定位。
報告認為，這些 App 之所以奏效，是看準用戶的鬆懈心理：下載後會要求用戶開放裝置上的部分功能以及數據資訊的使用權限，如錄音、手機位置、通訊錄、相機等，才可獲得全面性的安全防護與防毒功能。但實際上則是趁機把這些用戶個人數據，轉賣予第三方數據公司或相關業者以從中牟利，大賺黑心錢。
VPNpro 表示，在 Google Play 商店平台，這類涉及侵犯用戶私隱權限的防毒 App 多達 15 款，而假如統計來自全球各地用戶的下載次數，合共至少有超過高達 15 億次以上。
該 15 款涉及侵犯用戶私隱權限的防毒 App ：Security Master 、 Clean Master 、Antivirus Free 2019– Scan & Remove Virus, Cleaner 、 360 Security、Antivirus Android、Virus Cleaner 2019 – Antivirus, Cleaner & Booster、 Super Cleaner – Antivirus, Booster, Phone Cleaner、Antivirus & Virus Cleaner、 360 Security Lite – Free Antivirus, Booster, Cleaner 、Antivirus Free 2019 – Virus Cleaner、Antivirus Mobile – Cleaner, Phone Virus Scanner，以及目前已被Google 下架移除的Antivirus Free – Virus Cleaner、Virus Cleaner (MAX Security)、Super Phone Cleaner: Virus Cleaner, Phone Cleaner 及Super Security – Antivirus, Booster & AppLock。
